The 'Notch' Trend is Stupid
First and foremost, I’m not referring to Markus Perrson – better known as “Minecraft’s Notch’, I’m referring to the recent trend of phone makers putting a blemish on their screen and often time removing a lower bezel which causes the entire screen to be shifted off center when fullscreen is expanded all the way…
Essential gets a pass for keeping a decent chin to keep visual balance. Apple gets sort of kinda pass since they didn’t want to ditch all that hard work in the tech used in the front facing camera and sensors.
But I have a problem with phones adding notches for the sake of adding a notch… it’s not a trend that should be followed just for cosmetics… Apple did it, and it’s not great – don’t copy bad design! EVEN FROM APPLE!
Lou from Unbox Therapy covered a phone that really blew it out of the water for me; a phone that was truly bezel-less. This is the phone that I would consider a device worth copying.
Never the less the notch is taking the world by storm… by having its hands firmly grasped around the throat of the design-fads of 2018…
Remember when phone progression was more so about actual functionality and not just copying something for the sake of copying?
